South Carolina Department of Education- Special Education Services- Parent Resources
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) guarantees a free appropriate public education (FAPE) for children whose disabilities significantly hinder their learning.
The SC Department of Education Office of Special Education Services (OSES) assists and supports the public school districts [ referred to as Local Education Agencies (LEAs) ] in providing services for students with disabilities as outlined on their Individualized Education Program (IEP). Parental participation in the IEP planning and overall education process is very important to the success of their child. Center for Parent Information and Resources
The CPIR is a national information and referral center that provides information on disabilities and disability-related issues for families, educators, and other professionals. They serve as a central resource of information and products to the community of Parent Training Information (PTI) Centers and the Community Parent Resource Centers (CPRCs).
